Weight loss update

Brad and I have lost a whole person. Not just a person... an adult! We have lost 155 pounds together!!! I am at 72.2 pounds and Brad is at 83 pounds. We feel better. We look great, at least I think so. Life is good! I will attempt to take some pictures of Brad soon so you can see how great he looks.

Relay for Life

Purple is my favorite color. It is also the color that represents my favorite charity: The American Cancer Society. This year my goal is to raise $1,000 for Relay for Life. Currently, I have raised $270. I know this goal is attainable, especially through all of the people that follow this book, my friends and family, and facebook friends.

Why do I relay? I relay for the many members of my family that have battled cancer. I would list them all but I am afraid I may miss some. Both of my grandmother's beat cancer. My grandpa passed from leukemia. My dear friend Amie beat cancer this year! All of the success stories are possible with your donations to Relay for Life. Help me reach my goal. Help ACS save lives. The money goes directly to cancer research. I couldn't think of a better way to kick cancer's butt!

If you are interested in donating, click here! I really appreciate your support.

Small update

I will write a better update later but I wanted to show you the 67 pound difference. The top picture is at Stuff the bus in August. Before Medifast. The second picture was taken a few weeks ago and 5 pounds ago before the Love Run. People have been telling me they could see a huge difference but I still saw the fat girl in the mirror. These two pictures really helped me to see the difference! I look better. I feel better. I couldn't be more thankful for Medifast, Take Shape for Life, and the support of our friends and family. I haven't been at this weight since high school! Life is good and I have so much to be thankful for.

My first 3K

First, I must apologize for the cheesy mirror picture. Brad was sleeping at the time. :)
Today I participated in the Junior League Love Run, although I didn't run... I walked. Regardless, I walked 2 miles in 30 minutes. I couldn't have done that 60 pounds ago! Plus, this is the first picture where I can really see my weight loss in my face. People keep telling me they can tell I've lost weight, especially in my face but I haven't seen it... until today!

I'm so glad Michelle, Eli, Thessa, and Noah joined me for the walk. It was fun and we didn't finish last! In fact, we were somewhere in the middle. Did I mention it was freezing!!! I could have used 5 more layers but I didn't want to get too hot. So by the end of the walk my hands, legs, feet and ears were numb!

I haven't been great at exercising since starting Medifast. This has motivated me to jump on and start working out. In fact, I would really like to start training for a 5K. I have the couch to 5K app... I just need to do it!

Responses

I'm responding to a few questions/comments on my blog. Thank you for all of your encouragement in our weight loss journey. So far, I have been very fortunate in the clothes department. My partner teacher is also losing weight so I inherited a ton of her pants. However, now they are too big. Up to this point I hadn't had to buy anything. I just went last week and bought my first pair of pants since losing weight. I went to Old Navy. Now that I am in a whole new world of clothing, I am going to look at Plato's closet and some other thrift stores and see what I can find.

On another note, I unsubscribed to Lane Bryant's emails. No need for those anymore!

This week's weight update: Brad lost 4 pounds and is at 79.4 lost. I lost 1.6 and am at a total of 63 pounds.

Valentine's Day Crafts

I spent my afternoon crafting for Valentine's Day since I have a busy weekend next weekend.

The first set is a simple card I made for my students.

I made these treat bags for some of my friends. I can't say exactly who and spoil the surprise. Inside are Hershey's hugs and kisses. This was an idea I saw in a Cricut magazine.

Week 16 update

I can't believe we have made it to week 16 or Medifast. It's been a while since I posted measurements and my sweet friend reminded me. Brad did not want to measure so I only have mine. So, here they are.

I have lost a total of 31.4 inches!!!
-2 inches in my arms
-5.9 inches in my chest
-10.5 inches in my waist and hips
-2.5 inches in my thighs

I will post our weigh ins tomorrow. As of last week, I am at 61.4 pounds gone and Brad is at 75.2 pounds gone!

I found this idea on Pinterest and actually made it! (I find lots of ideas and never, I mean never make them) It is so rewarding to move beads from my pounds to go jar into my pounds lost. Thanks for supporting us in this process! It's so great to get compliments from people we haven't seen in a while. Plus, we feel better, which is the best part of all!
